Breakthrough Breast Cancer case study

The problem

Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a pioneering cancer charity dedicated to fighting breast cancer on three fronts: research, campaigning and education. Breakthrough was embarking on a new strategy with a significant re-brand and as part of this process a new website was needed.

How to ensure the new website would be effective though? Breakthrough planned to retain their current agency for the design and build, but wanted an independent perspective on how the current website performed and what was needed on the new one.

The solution

Cubeworks performed quantitative and qualitative analysis on the current website to produce a comprehensive audit with recommendations. With our expertise in data analysis a Business Analyst identified where the key user journeys were failing. Meanwhile a Senior Designer conducted a heuristic evaluation to understand why this was the case. Our recommendations then went into the specification and design for the new website.

The result

Breakthrough launched its new website in August 2009. Visits and page views are up significantly, while bounce rates are down. More people are returning to the site and on average they're staying longer.

Cubeworks have now been commissioned to provide monthly audits to further improve the site's performance.
